The Mysore style of yoga asana practice is a particular way of teaching yoga within the Ashtanga tradition as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. The actual term comes from the city where K. Pattabhi Jois taught for his entire life, Mysore, India. In the Mysore tradition of practicing the teacher does not verbally lead the class. Rather each student flows along in the traditional sequence of asanas that they have learned. The teacher then moves around the room assisting each individual with hands-on adjusting or a small amount of personal verbal instruction.
