Vegetarianism Joint Pain

Hi again.

I hope you were not just being polite when you said I should stay in touch. My wife and I went veggie in February. I am getting some soreness in some of my joints (starting about 6 weeks ago) and I was hoping you might have an idea or two on what I should eat to correct that. My wife is not having any problems and we are eating about the same things.

With love and respect,

M

Dear M,

Thank you for the message. It is great to hear from you. Do you think the joint soreness is from your diet change? It could be from other things. Without knowing specifically what you are eating it is hard to give detailed advice but I will make some suggestions. If you feel it is too much to be a vegetarian you can eat meat products occasionally and see how you feel. I have recommended to some people interested in exploring a vegetarian diet to become a Tuesday vegetarian for example. Just choose one day per week and don't eat meat on that day and see how you feel. You can expand the concept and try one week per month etc. It does take a little practice to figure out what to eat to get all that you need. There are many books out nowadays. I like some of the older books by authors like Paul Bragg. Check out some of his writings. He was a sort of middle of the road guy that believed in a combination of fitness and diet to achieve our greatest degree of health.

I look forward to seeing you both again,

David
