February Love

Dear Friends,

This new year is chugging along, and we’re already beyond the halfway mark of its second month. Shelley and I have just arrived in Mysore to visit Sharath’s mother, Saraswathi, and his family. It’s an emotional time of condolences and shared stories. In quiet moments, I return to padmasana lotus and a few rounds of pranayama, simple anchors that steady the heart.

A Short Practice You Can Do Today

When life feels full, keep it small and sincere: three even breaths, then sit in padmasana lotus (or a supported variation) and let pranayama guide the pace. After a gentle standing set, close again and one minute of soft pranayama to integrate. Repeating padmasana lotus with unhurried pranayama turns effort into ease.

Gentle Rituals for Difficult Days

On tender days, keep your practice close and kind. Try this two-part check-in you can weave between tasks:

Arrive (90 seconds): Place one hand on the belly, one on the heart. Breathe in for 4, out for 6, three rounds. If space allows, settle into a soft padmasana lotus (or any comfortable seat).

Reset (2–3 minutes): Choose a simple pranayama: even-count (inhale 5, exhale 5) or lengthened exhale (inhale 4, exhale 6). Notice the jaw, tongue, and shoulders releasing.

Close by naming one thing you’re grateful for and one small kindness you can offer today. On harder days, repeat this brief loop morning, midday, and evening. The aim isn’t to “do more,” but to meet each moment with steadiness—letting padmasana lotus and steady pranayama turn attention into ease, and ease into quiet courage.

On the Road Again

After Mysore, I’ll be teaching and look forward to seeing your smiling faces in fun-filled, energetic yoga classes. We’ll refine foundations, move with breath, and end each session with a calm sit in padmasana lotus, supported by steady pranayama so your system can absorb the work.

Book Sprouting Soon

My new book, Only Dead Fish Go With The Flow, has been germinating for years and is about to poke its head above the surface. You’ll see more details and social posts soon. I can’t wait to share it with you.

With LOVE and best wishes for 2025!
