workout yoga, exercise and yoga, ashtanga yoga, David Swenson

It's Already July!

We’re more than halfway through 2024! Shelley and I are on Maui caring for our property and preparing for our Mysore On Maui (MOM) event starting in August. I’ve been digging holes, planting, and generally getting down and dirty with my hands in the earth—the most grounding thing I know. Maui is beautiful, the island breeze is full of prana, and even simple workout yoga feels refreshed when it’s done under open skies. If you’re interested in MOM 2024, you can check it out HERE.

Why MOM?

MOM is designed to meet you where you are: steady breath, clear sequencing, and progress you can feel. We’ll weave focused workout yoga with technique labs so you leave with repeatable routines for everyday life. For those curious about training to be yoga teacher, we’ll highlight cueing, assists, and yoga class design so your yoga practice also becomes preparation. Expect Sanskrit counting for Primary elements, injury-smart regressions/progressions, breath pacing drills, and partner feedback. You’ll get take-home mini-sequences, checklists, and a post-event practice calendar, so momentum continues. Mentorship Q&A will support those training to be yoga teacher with ethics, voice.

Europe in September & October

I’ll be teaching in Frankfurt and Bratislava this fall with weekend workshops and a compact teacher-training track. Expect standing fundamentals, sustainable backline work, and breath-led vinyasa that makes workout yoga both effective and kind. If being yoga teacher is on your horizon, these sessions include modules on Sanskrit counting, adjustments, and ethical frameworks you can use immediately.

A Class for a Cause (Online)

In a few days, I’ll join my dear friend Beryl Bender for a Special Online Event: A Class For A Cause. It’s a great chance to support community, refine alignment, and sample elements that support training to be yoga teacher—from intention-setting to post-class reflection.
