It's November!

As we edge toward the close of 2024, there is much to reflect upon. The world feels unsettled, war, political strain, and social division tug at our attention. On a personal note, I mourn dear friends and mentors: Nancy Gilgoff, whom I admired since I was sixteen; Rolf Naujokat, beloved for his decades of yoga practice and teaching in Goa; and Sharath, Pattabhi Jois’s grandson, whose presence shaped generations. These luminous teachers yoga formed our hearts. Their absence is palpable, yet their teachings remain an everyday compass.
How We Carry the Lineage Forward
In difficult seasons, yoga works as both anchor and lantern. A steady inhale, a softened jaw, a patient exhale again and again. When we pause long enough to listen, the wisdom of our teachers yoga becomes actionable: meet reality with kindness, move with integrity, and keep showing up. Small gestures matter: a smile to a stranger, a spontaneous act of generosity, a moment of witness without judgment. In these ordinary offerings, yoga works to knit community and mend the frayed edges of our shared life.
Practice as Living Tribute
We honor those we’ve lost by embodying their best qualities: curiosity, courage, compassion. Keep a simple ritual, three breaths before you speak, a brief sit after you practice, a note of thanks to someone who helped you today. Let your mat be the place where the guidance of teachers yoga becomes your own voice. When grief rises, return to breath; when anxiety spikes, ground your feet; when hope flickers, remember that yoga works precisely because it is lived, not performed.
Thank You
I’m profoundly grateful for the support, kindness, and joy you bring into every room we share. Your presence proves, again that yoga works and that the legacy of our teachers yoga is alive in us. Sending you MUCH LOVE for the turning of the season.
