June So Soon!

Summer always seems to arrive in a blink. One moment we step into a new year; the next, half of 2025 has flown by. That’s my cue to pause, breathe, and remember why we gather for an Ashtanga workshop: to reconnect with presence. Whether you’re new or seasoned, grounding your day with a few mindful rounds of pranayama can sharpen attention and soften the edges of a fast-moving season. The more I lean into pranayama, the more I notice that each transition, on and off the mat, becomes intentional.

Weekend Workshop & 7-Day Training: Highlights

I just wrapped a weekend workshop followed by a 7-day yoga teacher training in Massachusetts. It was a joy teaching yoga to a room filled with curiosity and dedication. We explored alignment, breath-led vinyasa, and sustainable sequencing, always returning to pranayama as our anchor. Attendees shared that skillful teaching yoga gave them new pathways into familiar postures, while simple pranayama protocols helped them carry calm into everyday life. Seeing practitioners integrate these tools reminds me that teaching yoga is ultimately about empowering students to guide themselves.

Breath First: Simple Pranayama That Travels Well

When schedules get busy, keep it simple:

  • 3–5 minutes of even-count pranayama before Surya Namaskara
  • 6 breaths to steady transitions between standing and seated
  • 2 quiet minutes of pranayama before rest to integrate practice

These small rituals compound—especially when coupled with reflective notes after class.

What’s Next: M.O.M. — Mysore On Maui (August)

In August, Shelley and I will be teaching yoga together for M.O.M. (Mysore On Maui). Come for the month, drop in for a week, or, if you’re on the island, pop by for a single class. The space has a way of holding you, many arrive for a visit and end up staying longer. As they say, “Here today, gone to Maui.” We’ll weave breath-forward sequencing, practical alignment, and accessible pranayama throughout the month so you can refine technique and deepen focus.
